The simplest of things are often the most important. Sometimes it’s a kind word we can extend, or a good deed, but most often it’s simply our presence.
We can listen, and we can wait. The waiting can be the most difficult. There’s a need to fill the quiet with words when sometimes we just need to wait, so we have the opportunity to listen.
Sometimes what we’re offering with our presence is our calm. When someone’s world is twisted, a bit of peacefulness is welcome. That may come in our presence instead of from within themselves.
Although just being with someone can seem insignificant, it’s truly important – some of our most important work on the planet. It is these small things that matter, that make up a life. We should all carefully tend the small things.
