The Day the Hyacinths Bloomed

Today is the day the hyacinths all bloomed. They’ve been barely budding out but one and a half days of warmth and they are in full bloom.

My mom grew hyacinths and I have always loved the smell. I should plant more this fall.
“If, of thy mortal goods, thou art bereft,
And from thy slender store two loaves
alone to thee are left,
Sell one and from the dole,
Buy hyacinths to feed the soul”

-Muslihuddin Sadi,
13th Century Persian Poet
